Providence House continues to help our residents build valuable workforce skills. This week, we learn skills for teamwork and collaboration. Residents are learning how to bring these traits into practice, and our staff will share how they’ve applied these lessons in their own lives, too. It’s all about building a supportive, encouraging environment where residents gain important skills to thrive in the workforce!

Topic: Teamwork and Collaboration

Important Factors of Good Teamwork:

1. Trust. All of the members of a good team trust each other to do their best work.
2. Dependable. An effective team is made up of dependable people. They know they can count on each other to do their part.
3. Structure. A team has to have rules that everyone understands and will follow to achieve goals.
4. Roles. In a good team, everyone knows their role. They know what is expected of them and how to combine their skills and work together to succeed.
5. Communication. Nothing can get done if teammates don’t communicate with each other. When communicating, an effective team expresses its ideas clearly and with respect.
6. Leadership. Every team needs a leader who makes the team better. A leader makes decisions that will benefit the team, encourages team members to do their best work, and boosts morale.

The better we are as team players, the more leadership opportunities will come our way. Those skills translate to more opportunities and money.
