Providence House Executive Director Wins Non-Profit Professional of the Year
Shreveport, LA – Providence House Executive Director, Verni Howard, was recognized as the Non-Profit Professional of the Year at the Greater Shreveport Chamber’s Minority Business Opportunity Awards on June 17, 2021.
The Business Development Connection (BDC) of the Greater Shreveport Chamber nominates and honors candidates each year who exemplify positive leadership, community pride, and inspire the community to build a stronger business culture that empowers growth. The categories that were honored at the event included Top Business Professional of the Year, Non-Profit Professional of the Year, Emerging Business of the Year, and Small Business Owner of the Year. Each of these categories consisted of multiple nominees who strive to make a difference through community impact and leadership.
Howard was presented as the winner of the “Non-Profit Professional of the Year” and recognized for her efforts in making a positive impact on the local homeless population. Providence House is a non-profit emergency homeless shelter for families with children that services the northwest Louisiana population. With a mission of breaking the homeless cycle one family at a time, Providence House and it’s staff addresses core issues of homelessness which ultimately enables those families to become self-sufficient.
