Give for Good 2020
Give for Good was May 5th, 2020 and Providence House knocked it out of the park! Give for Good is an annual Community Foundation event that takes place in May to raise vital funds for local nonprofits throughout northwest Louisiana. This year’s Give for Good fundraising event looked a little different. Typically, non-profits have one day to raise as much as they can for their organization to be used as non-restricted funds. This year, not only did the event take place over a two-week period, but it came during COVID-19 – an extremely critical time for non-profits who were seeing a decrease in donated funds.
This year, not only did we surpass our goal, but we DOUBLED our donors and our raised funds, bringing in just under $56,000! Through social media posts, news segments, email marketing, and various radio spots, we were able to reach old and new donors to secure a little over $52,000 in general donations. Along with the funds donated through the Give for Good platform, we saw an estimated $4,000 from various donors who continued to support the homeless families in Shreveport-Bossier for Give for Good even after the event was over.
With the help of 219 community members, staff, board members, and many others, we managed to climb the leaderboards. Out of 239 non-profit organizations that participated this year, we landed in 7th place for highest donations raised. Eight separate staff members created personal campaigns to help further raise awareness amongst their peers which helped raise over $7,000. Due to the efforts of these staff members, the Community Foundation presented Providence House with a $500 “Goal Getter Prize” for having the most campaigns that reached their personal goal.
Dillas Quesadillas partnered with Providence House this year in an effort to give back to their new home of Shreveport. Dillas gave 20% back on orders placed when the customer mentioned “Providence House.” Thank you, Dillas!
During a time of crisis, our city, donors, and supporters showed a tremendous amount of love, compassion, and support for an issue that our city faces every day – homelessness. We are so grateful to all of our donors who were able to contribute Give for Good, especially during these uncertain times. Because of the unwavering generosity that our community has shown us, we are able to continue our mission to break the homeless cycle one family at a time.
