Resident Assistant (RA)

General Summary:

The Resident Assistant (RA) plays a critical role in supporting the families of Providence House by fostering a safe, stable, and compassionate living environment. The RA serves as a mentor and resource to residents, offering guidance, encouragement, and support as families work toward achieving their goals within the program. This position ensures that daily operations in the house run smoothly, enforces house guidelines, and responds to resident needs in a respectful and trauma-informed manner. RAs help promote a culture of dignity, respect, and empowerment, contributing to the overall mission of Providence House to support families in crisis and strengthen family stability.

Essential Duties:

  • Foster a positive, respectful, and supportive environment to promote healthy
    relationships among clients.
  • Model professional behavior and demonstrate fairness, accountability, and effective conflict resolution.
  • Communicate regularly with Case Managers regarding resident progress and
    collaborate to support client goals.
  • Provide encouragement and guidance to clients in alignment with program objectives.
  • Complete assigned tasks and maintain accurate shift reports for continuity of care.
  • Participate in required meetings, training sessions, and professional development
    activities.
  •  Monitor common areas, including the dining room, and assist with tracking meals served.
  • Ensure completion of resident chores and provide guidance or demonstration as
    needed.
  •  Conduct regular building walkthroughs to maintain safety and security.
  • Submit maintenance requests to uphold a clean, safe, and functional living environment.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, in place of a diploma, at least 1 year of work experience in a similar work environment may be considered for employment.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  •  Ability to work a flexible schedule
  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and guidelines with limited supervision
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  •  Ability to work with diverse agencies, groups, and individuals
  • Ability to quickly learn and use new skills and knowledge brought about by rapidly changing information and/or technology
  • Computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, and general database knowledge, e-mail, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Outlook
  • Must be detail-oriented with the ability to meet deadlines, while balancing multiple priorities
  • Must be a team player and a self-starter, with the ability to adapt quickly to change and under pressure
  • A high level of ethical standards and morals

Job Type: Full-time or Part-Time

Physical Requirements :

  • Sitting for long periods of time
  •  Walking with or without an adaptive device
  • Reaching at or below shoulder level, or overhead
  • Pushing and pulling objects with hands, arms, feet, or legs
  • Bending, stooping, and twisting
  • Lifting and carrying items such as boxes, files, supplies, and donations
  • Climbing stairs or inclined surfaces
  • Repeating the same movement with the hands, wrist, and/or fingers
  • Clear vision at approximately 20 inches or less, and peripheral vision
  • Being able to speak clearly so listeners can understand
  • Being able to hear sounds and recognize the difference between them
