SleepOut 4 Independence 2019 Set for November

SleepOut 4 Independence is officially set for November 16th, 2019 at Independence Stadium. SleepOut 4 Independence is hosted by Providence House, and is a community wide event that aims to raise awareness of homelessness in Northwest Louisiana. Individuals and teams will construct their own shelter for a one-night stay while fundraising for the hours spent camping out.

Throughout the night, campers will build shelters only from items commonly found on the streets, such as cardboard boxes, tape, rope, etc. During the event, students and families will enjoy food, music performances and competitions, inspirational speeches, and a box shelter design contest with awards and prizes. While the event is geared towards middle and high school students, youth and church groups, and families, all are welcome to participate in the fun.

This will be SleepOut 4 Independence’s 4th appearance at Independence Stadium. Executive Director of Providence House, Verni Howard, stresses the importance of support for this event because, “Homelessness can happen to anyone, but it impacts the entire community.” With the support and donations from campers and sponsors, the Shreveport-Bossier community can become a place where no family is homeless.

SleepOut 4 Independence tickets are on sale now for $25 each. Tickets include entry, t-shirt, food, music, and all activities. All proceeds go to Providence House, a residential facility for homeless families. Pull an all nighter and put an end to homelessness!
