Marquita Ellison

January 26, 2017 by Providence House Stories
3

Marquita and her son Donte were living in a motel. She was working at Circle K. When they changed her hours to overnight, she made the choice to quit her job, because she did not feel safe leaving her son alone overnight in a motel. With no income and no other options, she called Providence House.

She says Providence House has given her peace of mind, the courage to follow her dreams and a safe place to rest at night. She says she has learned the importance of saving money, and how to focus on making things better rather than worrying about what she cannot change.

Her case manager describes her as jolly and says she always has a smile. Marquita has moved to Michigan and is living with her fiancé. She is beginning the Nursing program at University of Michigan, and wants to be employed at Hope Hospital as a pediatric nurse.
