Deloria Cooper

January 26, 2017 by Providence House Stories

Deloria and her 6 children Mitesha, Shakerria, Tamar, Sha’Tyra, Cimino, and Kaharia would have to stay in separate places at night just to have a safe place to stay warm and dry. Each morning, Deloria would then go to all the places her children had stayed and pick them up so that they could all be together again. Deloria was not working because she had no childcare.

Stressed out, she decided to call Providence House for help and a place where everyone could be together and learn. Deloria says Providence House helped her become a better parent, learn to budget and pay off her debt.

She enrolled in Working To Learn and will test for her GED in March 2016. Her case manager, Mr. Stubbs, describes her as pleasant and says she always has a smile on her face. Today, she is working full-time as the Assistant Manager at Dairy Queen. She plans to continue working to improve her credit score, complete her GED and eventually wants to own her own home.
